The Carlu Location & Features
Designed by the renowned French architect Jacques Carlu, this event center emanates elegance and is a living embodiment of impeccable class, having played host to listless events since its inception in 1930. The hall and special events facility is located at the seventh (top floor) of the former Eaton’s College store in Toronto – only a 40 minute drive from Pearson Toronto Airport. Outside, inside, and all around the building, the venue’s beauty earned it’s designation as a National Historic Site of Canada. Some of Toronto’s best restaurants and entertainment centres are located just footsteps away from the venue. The Carlu’s interiors and immersive elegance are testaments to the design style that evolved from a more streamlined approach to Art Deco. After painstaking refurbishments to restore the structure to it’s former glory, with some contemporary additions, the stylish setting marvels with side-to-side lighting, crystal chandeliers, combos of velvet and leather-covered furniture, metallic doors, and Art Deco motifs. The Carlu is the top-drawer venue for high-profile weddings, social fetes, conventions, and corporate celebrations, even having played host to several royalty occasions.
Capacity & Catering
With a seated capacity of 600 for dinner events, 1,200 theatre style, and 1,500 cocktail the venue can host a wide range of events. All of The Carlu’s rooms are wheelchair accessible. There are 600 underground parking spots located within the complex for an added fee. Depending on your choice, you can use the Clippers Room, the Sky Room, the Round Room or the Concert Hall to host your event. Are you looking to host in grand style? Each room can be used for ceremony or reception or both. Designated and experienced staff will help you organize your day and help you make set-up, take-down and move-around as seamless as possible.
To help deliver cutting-edge and tasteful meals to your guests, The Carlu works with five catering companies: 10tation, Daniel et Daniel, Eatertainment, L’Eat, and Marigolds and Onions. Each caterer offers prepared menus that include hors d’oeuvres and a three-course meal.
